Scream Queens – The TV Show

Scream-Queens-01So last night I turned on my PVR and noticed I missed the new show Scream Queens on City TV last night. So I got comfortable and knew that 2 hours of a TV show is not my cup of tea, but I figured they aired it that way on TV I’ll watch it. I absolutely loved the first episode especially the 1995 throwback. I am also a fan of the cast: Emma Roberts, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer and Jamie Lee Curtis. The other actors are fairly new to me, but I’m sure they’ll grow on me.

I have to say I’m a little disappointed in the show, knowing it’s produced by the same guy (Ryan Murphy) that did American Horror Story I guess I had high hopes for this show. This series is basically like a horror version of Gossip Girls. Now I do love me some Gossip Girl, but I’m not sure if this will be as everlasting. Let’s hope Episode 3 doesn’t disappoint. Although I’m glad I got to fast forward through commercials otherwise I might of stopped watching episode 2 half way.

From a Chick’s Perspective 3/5. – The first episode was amazing, the second was meh. I’m sure the series will stick around cause teens will love this.

Blindspot – Pilot Review

02100-blindspot-posterFinally a new TV show where the actors are awesome, the concept is pretty cool (kind of reminded me of Prison Break with all those tattoo’s that basically turned into a map… sorry for the spoilers), AND well I totally have a girl crush on Jaimie Alexander. My girl crush started when I saw her in Nurse Jackie ❤

So I love the concept of this show. A girl is found in a bag in Times Square and she is completely covered in fresh tattoos. Her memory is completely wiped and her tattoo’s are leading the FBI to future attacks, deaths… etc. The first episode was pretty good, but I am hoping that it doesn’t become repetitive. I feel like this show has a lot of potential to last, but only time will tell. The only thing I worry about is the actor Sullivan who plays Kurt. There is something off about his acting… I have a feeling he has a strong accent and is trying to pull off a regular New York accent… (I need to go google this)

YES… He is AUSTRALIAN! I knew it! and boom goes the dynamite.

From a Chick’s Perspective 4/5. – Pilot reviews are usually easy for me. I can tell whether a show is going to be amazing or it’ll be off the air come Season 2… or 3. This one will definitely be a great Season and I really hope the show keeps getting better. I can see it declining, but let’s hope this show makes it to at least Season 3.

Limitless – The TV Show

limitless-publicity-releasejpg-82f1eeWhen I heard Limitless (the movie) was being turned into a TV Show I was pretty excited. Although most of the time when movies turn into TV Shows they tend to fail horribly, but I was so surprised by this pilot episode. Not only are the actors awesome but the story itself is pretty sweet. I am so happy to see Jennifer Carpenter in another show, as I haven’t seen her since Dexter. She is such an incredible actor! Also I LOVE LOVE LOVE that Bradley Cooper is actually in the TV Show. HOW GENIUS IS THAT?

Out of all the shows this fall I think this show will be my favourite. So far Fall TV is going to be AWESOME ❤

From a Chick’s Perspective 5/5. – For a Pilot I really loved it. I can’t wait to see episode 2 and watch the rest of the Season! Let’s hope this show lasts a long time!

So I just finished the first season of Sense8 and WOW! What a show!

It was honestly a thrilling show and you never knew what was going to happen. It was beautiful, sad, comedic, suspenseful… basically all of those qualities you look for in a series, especially a new one. I can’t wait for Season 2. This is one of those shows that you really need to pay close attention to. I remember getting so confused because I missed an important part and had to rewind it because someone was in my living room talking or the phone rang etc. Definitely not worth it to let the show continue going if it doesn’t have your full attention, but trust me it’s worth it.

The cast is completely amazing. I loved every single character and that’s tough to find in a series.

From a Chick’s Perspective 5/5. – One of the most confusing and amazing series I’ve seen. Definitely recommend it and I will definitely be waiting and watching for Season 2.

Montage of Heck – Trailer

Montage-Of-Heck I just came across this new Kurt Cobain doucmentary called the Montage of Heck. It literally gave me goosebumps watching it. I obviously never knew him, saw Nirvana live, but I’ve always been a huge fan and have always wondered how he died. Was it suicide? Was it murder? Was it an accidental overdose? It breaks my heart, because his music was amazing.

I remember turing on Edge 102 in Toronto and hearing that he died and my heart just stopped. It was like someone telling a child that Santa Clause isn’t real anymore. It’s heartbreaking, but in time you get over it. I don’t think I’ll ever get over his death.

Check out the Trailer:

For my Toronto Peeps:

TIFF Bell Lightbox 1 – Friday April 24, 9:45PM | Tickets

TV/Movie Update!

Hey everyone,

So I’ve recently moved so I haven’t had much time to watch movies as frequently as I used to. Especially since I’m in TV Heaven right now. I definitely will be writing a Series Finale post on Sons of Anarchy and American Horror Story: Freakshow. I am DREADING the Series finale of Sons of Anarchy, because it is definitely one of my favourite shows on TV.

Some movies I look forwarding to writing reviews on as soon as I watch them:

Dying of the Light
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Into the Woods
Big Hero 6
Horrible Bosses 2
Maze Runner
And more…

Stay tuned!

Plus if there is a movie you want to see a review of please let me know in the comments. It can be old or new!

Ashlena The Next Voice of Indie88

I was very excited to find out the news that Indie88 (a local Toronto radio station) was looking for a new voice for their radio station. So I OBVIOUSLY applied due to always wanting to be on the radio and actually talking about the one thing I can never get enough of… music.excited

So I did it. Saturday I started recording constant takes on the script provided and submitted it a couple of hours later. Now I have always been a pretty positive person and opportunities don’t come often like this one so I took the plunge. I had to go back in time and try to remember the radio skills I learned in College before dropping out and do my best.

So now I’m just hoping to be a finalist and if that happens I will legitimately go insane.

So Please wish me luck! And if I do make it as a finalist I will need help with voting to win! ❤

Tove Lo

So I am completely IN LOVE with this new artist Tove Lo. For all of you that have known about her before her debut album well SCREW YOU FOR NOT SHARING THIS GODDESS.

Tove Lo

I think it’s really hard to fall in love with an artist especially when it’s their first album. I find it’s really hard to get a foot into the music industry and make a ton of fans with only releasing a couple of songs. She came out with Habit (Stay High) and as soon as I heard it I fell in love with it. It’s such a great beat and her voice is beautiful. Thank GOD the rest of her album (that came out today) is just or even better than that song. I can’t wait to see her concert in Toronto on Thursday night and support this girl with fabulous writing skills. I swear to god she is singing about my past life and it’s so freaky. Check her out.

Check out her latest single/music video : Not on Drugs

I’ll do my best to do a concert review. Let’s hope I get some good pics!
