Sicario – Movie Review

Sicario_posterI was very lucky to catch the movie Sicario last night thanks to my work. ❤

Let me just start off by saying if you haven’t read my blog yet I HATE going to movie theaters. I would rather stay home and watch it on my couch so I can pause it, rewind it (if necessary) turn it up and down… etc. People in movies theaters are so annoying. They have to point out who’s going to die or what they think it going to happen. NO ONE CARES. I am trying to hear what the hell is going on and also use my brain to figure out what I think it going to happen. No one needs your damn commentary.

Anyways about the movie. I have to say I absolutely adore Benicio Del Toro. He is like the Spanish version of Brad Pitt. Not in acting by any means, but in looks! These two look like long lost brothers or they have different mothers lol

I found this image online and almost died of laughter. Glad it’s not just me who thinks they are related. Although I don’t really enjoy them calling him a Mexican version of Brad Pitt, but we won’t even go there.

So the movie overall was great, super action packed, sad at times and very confusing. Emily Blunt’s character really confused me. I’m going into this movie thinking that she is a strong female lead, when it reality I felt like she was just supporting Benecio Del Toro’s character the whole time. I don’t want to spoil this as I’m not sure when this comes out to the public, but definitely go see it. It’s a great movie, with some gruesome moments, but totally worth it. Or wait till it hits DVD if you’re like me and don’t want to watch it in theaters lol

From a Chick’s Perspective 3.5/5.  It was a great movie, I’ll most likely forget about it in the coming years. I’m sure someone will bring it up and I’ll be like Oh yea that movie. It was okay… I recommend seeing it. It was filmed beautifully. As you can tell i’m still unsure how I feel about it.

The Gambler – Movie Review

The_Gambler_posterThe Gambler

I watched this last night with the boyfriend. It was a random movie that he suggested and to be honest I really didn’t want to watch it. After seeing Mark Whalberg in Transformers I just got annoyed by his acting, but surprising he was really good in this movie. Although that dark hair he had made him look like Edward Scissorhands at times.

I loved that Jessica Lange played his mother, because I have an obsession with her. She is just a brilliant actress. Other than that it was an OKAY movie. I’m glad Mark is doing more serious roles.

Also I was kind of annoyed by Brie Larson’s role. I don’t know whether it was her acting or just her facial expressions that pissed me off. She may be a good actress, but I did not enjoy her in this movie at all.

From a Chick’s Perspective 2.5/5. I f someone asked should I see this? I’d say if you have nothing better to do then sure. It had a great ending and that’s rare in movies nowadays.

Jim Bennett: Fuck you.

Best line.

22 Jump Street – Movie Review

22_Jump_Street_Poster22 Jump Street

I have to admit I absolutely love Jonah Hill. I’m actually a bigger Jonah fan than a Channing fan. Shocking huh? But not in a “Oh he’s hot” kind of way(obviously) more like he’s a better and funnier actor.

Anyways…. This movie was pretty long and to be honest I can’t even remember the first one. It was basically the same movie but in College instead of High-school. The strange thing I didn’t get is why people kept mentioning how old they are. OLD PEOPLE CAN GO TO COLLEGE TOO. By old I mean like people in their late 20’s and early 30’s. That’s pretty old for college I guess…

Some of my favourite scenes:

1. The Bad Trip Vs the Good Trip. Channing dancing his ass off while Jonah is in a depressed state.

  tumblr_ncl1eyZVyI1t30fa6o3_250 tumblr_ncl1eyZVyI1t30fa6o4_250

2. All of the next movies they created at the end. (I guess this means there won’t be another Jump Street movie… thank god.) My favourite was the Video Game.

3. Ice Cube freaking out at the Parents Meeting

5. Last but by far my favourite. Jonah Hill doing a poetry slam. CYN-THI-A. (I think I laughed so hard at this cause my middle name is Cynthia HA!).

From a Chick’s Perspective Overall It was alright. I give it a 3/5. I probably wouldn’t watch it again, but I would tell people to watch if if they’ve seen the first one already.

Captain Dicksons wife: So how did you and Doug meet?

Maya: We met at a party and then he stalked me to my dorm room.

Captain Dickson: Stalked you? And then what happened?

Maya: Then we hung out and watched a movie.

Maya: [pause for a second] Actually we watched it a couple times…

Captain Dickson: This is bullshit! Waiter! Can a black man get some water!

Schmidt: Someone get the man some water. He’s black, he’s been through a lot!

Cold in July- Movie Review

 e6ff51b22541dee31ab32a34dac4032dCold in July

Decided to watch a movie last night (instead of a very odd documentary) and my boyfriend came across Cold in July. We are both huge Dexter/Michael C Hall Fans so how could we say no? Now, knowing a little history on Dexter (if you don’t you must live under a rock) he is a serial killer who killed other serial killers. So technically he was a good serial killer or “America’s favorite Serial Killer.”

So it started off with Michael’s character accidentally killing a person who broke in their house. He is such a great actor, because when you’re a huge fan of a series and then you see the main character in another show/movie you just make assumptions that he’s going to be playing a similar character, but he didn’t. He played a normal man who was just trying to protect his family and himself. (Watch the movie I don’t want to spoil anything). So overall gory movie, but awesome story line. It really shows how far a person will go to save their family. YAY for Michael doing awesome movies. I hope to see him in more soon.

From a Chick’s Perspective I give this movie a 4/5. If you love Michael C Hall; which you should then definitely watch this flick. It’s a little graphic and disgusting, but I like those types of films.

No Quotes available. I’m guessing this was not a big motion picture so try to watch it if you can find it!

Dom Hemingway – Movie Review

Dom HemingwayDom Hemingway

Guys if you’re looking for a movie to watch so you can laugh your ASS off then I definitely recommend this one. My boyfriend and I had no idea what this movie was about when we started watching it. Hell, I work in a movie related company and never heard of it. So we put it on and boom I get Jude Law, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) and the dude from the Spice Girls Movie (Richard E. Grant). AMAZING!

This had to be one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a long time. Due to my love for British Humor I was DYING at so many parts I’ll definitely have to watch this movie again just for the amount of shit I missed.

Also I have to say what a great performance by Jude Law. Unbelievable work. Also he kinda looks like Gerard Butler in 300 when he get’s angry…

Perfect poster art as well. *mini spoiler* when I saw the monkey pictures during the movie I actually had to pause it and just laugh. Then I understood the box art after searching for it. Otherwise it’s just confusing as hell.

From a Chick’s Perspective I give this movie a 5/5. I will probably watch it 10 more times just due to introducing it to others or for days when there is nothing else and I need a good giggle. This movie was obviously not promoted well in Canada. I don’t even know what company released it here. I’m off to do some digging.

Dom Hemingway
Please watch this trailer for all the F-BOMBS you will enjoy during this 1.5 hour movie.
Dom Hemingway: “Is that my grandson?”
Hugh: “His name’s Juwara.”
Dom Hemingway: “Are you kidding?”
Hugh: “It means peace-loving.”
Dom Hemingway: “I’m Dom. Dom’s English for unlucky son of a bitch.”
Oh I need to find better quotes, but there are none online. I’ll update this later 😛

Place Beyond The Pines – Movie Review

placebeyondthepinesPLACE BEYOND THE PINES

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a movie where I didn’t even know what to say when it was over. It took me a while to figure out what to say about it… was it good? Was it bad? I still don’t know.

What a cast. Great performances by all even the teenagers. I don’t get it how can there be so many movies with such awful actors yet this movie comes around and it was just flawless. It’s great to see there are still some raw talented kids out there who will be big movie stars one day. (Dane DeHaan, I only see things going up from here. Amazing performance. Great actor and I look forward to seeing more of you in your future projects).

So guys I really have no bad thoughts about this movie. I don’t feel like raving and ranting because unfortunately I have nothing bad to say about it. It was a pretty messed up movie and I’m glad it ended the way it did.

From a Chick’s Perspective I give this movie a 4/5. Nothing is really worth a 5 unless I can watch it over and over again and never get sick of it. This movie is a good one time watcher. Maybe twice if my boyfriend wants to see it as well. 😛

Luke (Ryan Gosling): “You don’t love me you don’t like me I fuckin’ get it. I’m a piece of shit, OK? I’m still his father, I can give him stuff. I got this for him, just give it to him. Tell him it’s from me.”

… So cute in a messed up way.
